My name is Robyn and I am a Personal Trainer from Ontario, Canada looking to help motivate and encourage others.
Working out and learning about weight training brought me out of a difficult time in life. I used the gym and lifting weights as therapy, and an excuse to not go out and not party anymore. Now I want to help others who are looking to change their quality of living, and improve their lifestyles.
Working as a Personal Trainer for 6 years now, and studying Fitness & Health Promotion at Georgian College has allowed me to build a knowledge base that can work with varieties of clientele including weight loss, muscle gain, and rehabilitation. Working out myself specifically with weights for about 12 years has also helped me gain experience with the technique of various exercise's and figuring out specific movements for specific needs.
After completing the 2 year program I started working at a Goodlife, and realized how much I enjoyed training others. I love working with different goals, different bodies needs, and creating individualized plans. Throughout this 5 years I have also worked in a clinic for a year. I had experience with injuries in the gym, but this has allowed me to broaden my experience with them and learn new technique's.
I also used to play rugby & soccer, which is where I first began working out in a gym. Rugby for about 12 years and soccer for 7, with a bit of basketball mixed in a few years too. These sports and playing for a team taught me the discipline to get up and get to it everyday, as well as how to motivate others and help encourage.
This has also lead me to compete in a few powerlfiting meets and really push my body to its limits. As much as I love training for a sport or event, now I am focused on growing my business and being my healthiest self. I still love weight training though, but this past year have really fallen for teaching fitness classes. So now on top of teaching live classes, I still do powerlifting workouts 3 times a week!
Seeing results from training encouraged me to incorporate it more into my lifestyle, and eventually make a career helping others do the same!
