Robyn Provencal

My name is Robyn, and I’m a Personal Trainer based in Barrie, Ontario. Helping others discover the transformative power of exercise is my passion and my mission.

I grew up in a fitness environment, playing soccer, basketball, and rugby at a competitive level, though I never pursued them beyond rep teams. While I loved being part of a team and training for sports, I found that I truly thrived in the gym. Weightlifting quickly became my safe spaceβ€”a place I could turn to after school on days I didn’t have practice or even after a long training session. My dad took me to the gym for the first time when I was 14, and by 16, I had joined Anytime Fitness, where I began crafting my own workouts. I would take exercises from my basketball and rugby training and incorporate them into my own routines, even applying what I learned in gym class. Taking Exercise Science in Grade 12 was when I truly started to take weightlifting seriouslyβ€”not just for sports performance but as something I was passionate about.

The gym wasn’t just about training for sports; it became a sanctuary. Like many, I struggled with body image, but weightlifting shifted my perspective. Instead of trying to be smaller, I saw how empowering it was to be strong. Strength training helped me break free from the pressure of restrictive dieting and taught me that fitness is about capability, resilience, and confidenceβ€”something I strive to pass on to my clients.

After studying Fitness & Health Promotion at Georgian College, I initially planned to continue my education in kinesiology. However, I quickly realized that the most impactful work starts in the gym, where people take their first steps toward a healthier life. That’s where real change happens. This realization fueled my passion for personal training and set me on a path of lifelong learning. I continuously expand my knowledge in fitness, nutrition, and wellness, always looking for new ways to improve my coaching and help my clients succeed.

My passion for movement extends beyond the gym. I still love playing sports and stay active by playing volleyball once a week. Whether it’s team sports or strength training, I thrive on movement and challenging myself in different ways.

I also have a deep passion for nutrition and believe in fueling my body with whole, nutrient-dense foods while still allowing room for treats and enjoyment. I take an intuitive and mindful approach to eating and teach my clients to do the sameβ€”finding a balance that supports their goals without restriction.

Over the past nine years, I’ve worked with a variety of clients, helping them with weight loss, muscle gain, functional training, and rehabilitation. I also spent time working in a clinic setting, gaining valuable experience in injury accommodations and creative programming. Whether someone is recovering from an injury, working towards strength goals, or simply learning to move better, I believe training should be individualized and adaptable to real life.

Beyond fitness, I have a creative side that I love to explore. I’ve always enjoyed art, and I find inspiration in the connection between creativity and movement. Whether it’s sketching, painting, or just appreciating different forms of creative expression, I see it as a way to be mindful and stay connected to myself. I also love spending time outdoors, hiking, and enjoying nature with my greyhound, Josie, who keeps me active and grounded.

Fitness has shaped my life in so many ways, and now, I’m passionate about helping others experience the same. Seeing my clients grow stronger, gain confidence, and realize their potential is the most rewarding part of what I do.

If you’re looking to improve your lifestyle, gain strength, or simply find a healthier balance, I’d love to help. Feel free to reach out at info@trainingbyrobyn.com.
