One of The Biggest Setbacks During Your Fitness Journey..

Do you know one of the biggest setbacks during your fitness journey could be eating processed foods? It's surprising but true..

Eating processed foods will not only keep you from losing body fat but will actually lead to more weight gain. This can also be foods that are labelled as "healthy" and items we may see as good to eat. This can include cereals, breads, cheese's, meats, pastries, and frozen microwaveable foods.

While these foods may be easy and don't seem like they're bad (not high in sugar right?), that's not always the only ingredient we need to be looking out for. These foods will contain high amount of sugar at times, but also extremely high amounts of sodium and saturated/trans fats. These ingredients may make the food taste better but if eaten on a regular basis over time can lead to serious health risks. These type's of foods are lacking real nutritional value and fibre like you would find in whole foods. Having a poor diet and eating these type's of foods on a regular basis can lead to obesity, high blood pressure, diabetes, and heart disease.

So what do we eat instead?!

Try to replace your processed foods with whole foods, and slowly eliminate them from your diet. Most things in a box or package are probably processed in some way, so have a look at your ingredients and the content of the things we talked about earlier (sugar, salt/sodium, fats).

Breads are good but preferably a multi grain or whole wheat with little preservatives. Fruits and vegetable's of all kinds, whole grain rice and quinoa. If you are not vegetarian most meat is okay, there is not real proof of the saturated and trans fats in meat actually causing any build-up in the arteries but it still does seem to be an opinion of many people. Nuts and seeds are great for snacks when in a hurry too. The most important of it all being water! If you have been eating processed foods you may be retaining more water as well as a result, which will hopefully change as you start to eat more whole foods. Try having 2 litre's a day and see if that makes you feel any better, then add another L when you're ready!
